I think it was Of Mice and Men that talked about an instant standing still, just a moment that is more then a moment. I had a moment like that.

When I was about 17 I was walking home late one fall night, the night that we fell back for daylight savings time. I crossed over a road into a field and as I climbed a hill the wind kicked up and swirlled fallen leaves all around me in a circle. I was in the middle of this mild vortex of crisp fall foligae It was strange and wonderfull.

It was not the most signifigant moment in my life ( meeting my wife, the birth of my child, as well as many others ), but of all the things that have happened to me it is this moment that stands out to me in vivid detail. I can play it over and over in my mind and it takes me back to a feeling that I had, for only a moment, along time ago.

For some reason that moment picked me and it meant something, even if I don’t know exactly what.
