I am also running behind ( shocking ) but current clients should take heart, I am knocking wp projects out left and right – and the last client said:

One of the reasons I stay behind schedule is that I am willing to set up hosting and buy a temp domain ( gratis ) for a client if it is an emergency – I’ll even do content, if that’s what it takes

However, I will be wrapping up a number of projects this weekend as well as tying up a half dozen loose ends. Stay tuned…

Sometimes I worry that I am doing myself and my other clients a dis-service by lingering too long helping clients with tasks well beyond what I have agreed to and what I have been paid for. And then I get an email like this:

“It’s evident in the quality and support that you provide, that you’re committed to building long term relationships with your clientele. Simply put; it has been a pleasure to work with you.”

That was written by David C. who I have worked with multiple times now.

The moral of this story is that if you are waiting on me to finish your WordPress project, hang in there and I will provide you with the same service that I did David.

Seriously, Fay did shake the front door of the office enough to set the alarm off so I got pulled downtown to deal with all off that in the middle of the storm. We had some cell phone and power outages, trees down, and the office roof did spring a leak that necessitated some quick scrambling.

However, surrounding counties had real flash flooding, tornadoes and deaths due to the storm so I am not complaining – but – it did mean that I was incommunicado for a few days and I am now running even a little further behind. I am going to spend all day today touching bases and cleaning up so if I owe you a call or email, etc. be assured that I will get to you baring some other natural disaster…

If I haven’t started your project, think about getting your project on my calendar for after the 1st of the year. I am offering first come, first serve booking for projects scheduled to start after January 1 2008.

My custom WordPress themes are $500 per theme with $100 of that down as a deposit. I do offer discounts for clients that send me repeat business and have worked extensively with a handful clients to create multiple themes for them and their clients. In one case I have developed literally a hundred themes for a client whom I continue to work with from time to time.

This is how the development process usually goes:

I’ll get some general info from the client such as suggested color schemes, colors to avoid, styles or sites that the client likes, number of columns, etc. I’ll do a mock up and the client tells me what he likes, doesn’t like, wants changed, etc. I don’t mind making changes, going back to the drawing board, whatever is needed within reason.

Eventually we get to a design that gets approved. I then cut it up and build a template on a staging site. Once we agree that the test site looks good we’ll settle up and I’ll zip up the theme and send it to the client so that he can install it on his installation of WordPress. If a client needs assistance setting up the theme I am happy to help with that as well.

All the WordPress themes that I create are valid xhtml with css layout assuring that my clients sites are created with the latest web standards, are highly accessible, and render correctly on the vast majority of platforms and browsers.
